Singapore Cardiologist Dr. Lim Ing Haan is an alumnus of Duke University Hospital where she underwent American Board Accredited training in Interventional Cardiology.  She has been in private practice in Mount Elizabeth Hospital since 2009.

Dr Lim received her medical degree from National University of Singapore in 1995. After completing her basic specialist training in Internal Medicine at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) and National University Hospital (NUH), she became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (Edinburgh) in 2001. In the same year, Dr. Lim pursued advanced specialist training in Cardiology.

Her general cardiology fellowship was completed in Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) between 2001 and 2004, followed by Interventional Cardiology in National University Hospital (NUH) in 2004 and between 2005 and 2006 in Duke University Medical Centre under the Health Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) scholarship from the Ministry of Health. In 2006, Dr. Lim passed her Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) in the accredited Interventional Cardiology Centre in the USA.

In recognition of her professional and research achievements, Heart Doctor Dr. Lim Ing Haan was inducted as:

  • Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Cardiology (Singapore)
  • Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (Edinburgh, UK)
  • Fellow of American College of Cardiology in 2009
  • Fellow of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (USA) in 2012
  • Fellow of the Asia Pacific Society of Interventional Cardiology in 2012
  • Fellow of the Indonesian Heart Association in 2015

Dr Lim Ing Haan is an interventional cardiologist for at least 20 years. She specializes in the fields of complex coronary intervention, including left main, bifurcation intervention and chronic total occlusion lesion treatment. Her interests are in the use of Intravascular Ultrasound, Optical Coherence Tomography, Rotational Atherectomy and Shockwave Intravascular Lithotripsy. She also performs percutaneous mitral valvuloplasty and Left Atrial Appendage Closure.

Heart doctor(cardiologist) Dr. Lim Ing Haan also has an expertise in the peripheral intervention of the lower limb and renal arteries, sports cardiology, preventive cardiology, and cardiac rehabilitation, as well as non-invasive and invasive multimodality cardiac imaging. 

Dr Lim Ing Haan is credited with starting several intervention programs in her career. As the Director of the Cardiac Interventional Laboratories in Tan Tock Seng Hospital in 2008-2009, she was heavily involved in establishing the 24-hour acute myocardial infarction interventional service. Dr Lim also started the Robotic PCI program in Mount Elizabeth Hospital in 2019.

Singapore Heart Specialist Dr. Lim Ing Haan maintains a keen interest in research and teaching. She was the Commissioning Editor of Heart Asia published by BMJ in 2009. She is still heavily involved in both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. She is an Adjunct Faculty with the DUKE-NUS School of Medicine till 2020. She has published many research papers in internationally-recognized scientific journals. She is an active member of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) based in Washington, which develops quality standards and guidelines for credentialing, safety, and quality in interventional cardiology worldwide. She is on the editorial board of SMA News of Singapore Medical Association.

In 2016, Interventional cardiologist ( heart doctor) Dr. Lim Ing Haan was the Organising Chairman of the Inaugural Singapore Cardiac Intervention Congress – OCT Workshop wherein Live Case Demonstrations were transmitted from Mount Elizabeth Hospital and it was attended by cardiologists from 9 countries.

Singapore Heart Specialist Dr. Lim Ing Haan believes in being an early adopter of new technology. In 2020, she is amongst the pioneers in using Robotic PCI to improve precision and decreasing radiation exposure in cardiac stenting in Mount Elizabeth Hospital. 

Aside from clinical work, Dr Lim is actively involved in a number of professional bodies. Dr Lim Ing Haan sits on the Council of Woman’s Chapter of the Asia Pacific Society of Interventional Cardiology, Singapore Cardiac Society and Chapter of Cardiologists of the Academy of Medicine. She served on the Medical Advisory Board in Mount Elizabeth Hospital in 2015-2017 and 2021-2023 and as a Chair of the Credentialing Committee in 2015-2017. She is also a Medical Expert with the Academy of Medicine.

Interventional Cardiologist Dr. Lim Ing Haan has been invited as faculty and speaker to international interventional cardiology meetings and courses in Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Vietnam, China, Switzerland and USA to speak about topics related to cardiology for cardiovascular doctors. She was also invited as a proctor for complex cardiac intervention in China and Vietnam. Dr Lim is a Key Opinion Leader for the cardiac device industry
